It has been reported that a Tyne and Wear company which manufactures foundations for wind farms has made a statement to say that it will be creating up to 1000 new jobs.
The company is an engineering firm called Offshore Group Newcastle (OGN). It made the statement after it received a grant worth £640,000 from the UK government.
The company said that it was going to use the funding to build foundations for offshore wind farms that will be based at its site in Wallsend. At the moment the company already employs around 1200 staff.
OGN have made statement to say that they are over the moon with the grant that the UK government have given to them.
The foundations that are going to be used will be steel jacketed foundations, which are called Triton, these will be designed and developed by OGN’s subsidiary company Aquind.
It has been announced that the construction of the prototype will start later on this year
It is good news for the company and also for the region of the north east of England. OGN was founded back in 2010 and it trades in the offshore oil and gas industry making renewable energy resources.
