Virgin Atlantic in Lead Enquiry
It has been reported that a Virgin Atlantic employee has handed in their resignation after they have been accused of giving out the details of eight celebrities who were taking flights with the airline. It is thought that the member of staff passed the information onto the paparazzi in 2010.
It is thought that the celebrities that were affected by the leaks were the Tottenham Hotspur player Jermain Defoe, the UK actress Sienna Miller and UK singer Cheryl Cole. The names have been passed onto the UK press.
Virgin Atlantic have said that they are now looking into the allegations seriously as they put the privacy of their customers as a priority some of the stars are said to be seeking legal advice over the incident.
However the employee who has not been named for legal reasons has denied giving any information out to the press.
Other celebrities thought to have been affected by the leak include the actresses Scarlett Johansson and Gwyneth Paltrow and pop stars Robbie Williams and Nicole Scherzinger.
Virgin have said that they are sorry for any distress that they might have caused their passengers but that passenger safety was of utmost importance to them and as a result they have contacted all of the celebrities involved to apologise for what has happened.
