Where can one purchase a “news” desk for a television studio?

television news
andy120 asked:

I’m looking for a website which sells desks made for small televisions studios (such as those in a school) without having to have one custom made. The desk will be for a news show, so it should have that style that one sees on network TV news. Nothing fancy, just a simple curved desk for a studio.

Many thanks!

Is television news still needed?

television news
Miss Mayhem asked:

Between the bias of network news and the abundance of other news sources - why even bother with tv news? Is it an outdated source for information past it’s prime, or still a needed resource?

What do you think, and why?

Most of them have been very unfair—–I’m watching Campaign Carl Cameron right now-he is on The O’Reilly factor at the moment—-he looks like a rodent more every day. He is being really rough on Sarah.

Who have been the truly great journalists of television? Not just script readers but news gatherers?

television news
bfrank asked:

This question is asked in honor of Ed Bradley — who probably deserves to be somewhere near the top of that list.

Most tv newscasters read stories given them by other reporters. Others simply report what others are reporting. Too many just say what they’re supposed to say. Ed Bradley brought us stories that otherwise we would never have heard. That’s true news. That’s what journalists are supposed to be about.

What other names would you add to that list?
αΩ∞, good list. For the life of me, I cannot remember who Dennis Murphy is/was.

I’ve watched Anderson Cooper all this week — and I’m about to be convinced that he may be more than a glib script-reader. Maybe. At least he’s provided a balanced response to Election ‘o6 for one busy traveler who hasn’t had much time for print this week. Does he ever report? or only interview?

Marko F, yep, Bill Moyers ranks right up there with Edward R. Murrow in my book– at the head of the list.

Question for people from countries other than the U.S. re: television news?

television news
brevejunkie asked:

What kinds of stories does your city show on the evening news (or morning news or whatever it is you guys have)? Is it the same as it is here in the US with 20 minutes of murders, bombings, kidnappings, train crashes, punctuated by a few minutes of commercials, then one “happy” story about a dog that needs adopting from a local animal shelter, or a child who used CPR and saved his friend?
