Image of Queen Projected on Palace

A huge image of the Queen that is made up of thousands of children’s portraits will be displayed on the side of Buckingham Palace in the UK until Saturday.

The portrait is to celebrate the Jubilee year and has been made up of 200,000 mini portraits of school aged children. The children sent in their self-portraits and these were then put together to create a larger image of the Queen.

The piece of art was backed by the Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts created to celebrate young people in the UK before the Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 Games that bother take place this year.

The project was called Face Britain and the organisers said that it wanted to empower children to explore their creative identity.

The people behind the piece of work had t of course seek approval form the Queen herself as the image was being projected onto the front of her home but according to the organisers the Queen liked the idea and loved the finished products as well.

In all twenty four projectors are being used to cover the entire front of the palace and this will be in place from the hours of 20.20 – 23,.15 every day until Saturday.
